Mr. Sono joined Voorsanger Architects PC in 1998. As an architectural designer, he has 10 years experience in the design and construction of complex institutional projects for both the public and private sector. Recent projects include: Co-Directing the UAE Military Museum Master Plan Competition, The National WWII Museum, New Orleans, LA; Asia Society and Museum, New York; University of Virginia Art Museum; Wildcat Ridge Residence, Aspen, CO; Mudon Signature Apartments, Dubai, UAE; LaGuardia Airport Control Tower; Newark Airport Terminal B Lobby; WTC Site Viewing Wall at Ground Zero.
He has been invaluable in his design input and ability to organize and realize design concepts in drawings, details and the construction process. During the years of 2003 - 2004, Mr. Sono took a leave of absence to work on The Staten Island 9/11 Memorial in NY which he won through international competition. The work received The American Institute of Architects Public Project Award.
Mr. Sono received a Master of Architecture – University of Washington, 1996; Master of Architecture - Kobe University, 1998 and a Bachelor of Architecture - Kobe University, 1993.
He received from the University of Washington Master’s Thesis Award (1996) and from the Architectural Institute of Japan Master’s Thesis Award (1998)
